A LITTLE ABOUT ME

The Heart Behind the Work

Hi, I’m Maria Depaz. Here’s a little about me and the heart behind my work:

I added mother to my list of life experiences in 2019, and in many ways, I was reborn. That rebirth happened again in 2022 when I became a mother of two. Motherhood changed the way I move through the world. It taught me to slow down, to listen more deeply, and to adapt to a pace of life we are not often told is okay to have.

Through my own journey of mothering and postpartum, I learned the power of presence—and the importance of being seen. There are moments from my postpartum seasons that I hold close, moments I wish I could step back into just for a glimpse. To see myself again in the beauty and rawness of that time. To remember the calm, the love, and the strength that existed even when things felt heavy.

There are moments when we feel defeated, unsure, or invisible. And yet, sometimes all it takes is a small glimpse—of our softness, our resilience, our love—to shift how we hold ourselves in that season. This is where Doula work, photography and videography became deeply meaningful to me.

That presence—of holding space, of witnessing, of honoring the story—is what moved me to support other families. I truly believe that all families, no matter what they look like, deserve love and support.

They deserve to feel held. They deserve to have their journeys cared for and witnessed. Families matter. Parents’ voices matter. And new life—however it arrives—matters deeply.

Doula work and mothering go hand in hand for me. Both are rooted in love, patience, and hope. Everything I do—whether supporting families through pregnancy and postpartum or documenting their stories through photography and videography—is done with intention and care.
